Meet John | Partner Photographer

I am so excited to share with you all that I’ve added a new member to my partner family. John has been shooting with us for the past 8 years and he is always a perfect calm to any storm. He moved away to San Francisco for a few years for his wife’s job but recently moved back and I couldn’t be more happy to have him back on our team! He is a down to earth and calm presence to any wedding day and an amazing photographer on top of that. He’s available starting now for your wedding and engagement session. Welcome aboard John! We are so happy to have you!

John and his wife Belinda in Paris (You guys they have the sweetest love story and are high school sweethearts!)

How long have you been a photographer? How did you start? I have been a professional photographer for 10 years now. I started out taking photos of plants and landscapes while I was out hiking around the beautiful mountains of Colorado and eventually worked up the courage to start photographing people. Eventually, I photographed my first wedding for a friend and have been hooked ever since.

What’s your favorite part of a wedding? I really enjoy cocktail hour. The ceremony is over, the party is just getting started and everyone is hanging out together and having a good time.

Where is the favorite place you have traveled? I attended a fall landscape photography workshop near Telluride, CO and we spent every morning and evening in the mountains around Telluride. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the beauty of the mountains at sunrise or how amazing it was to see the Milky Way over a grove of aspen trees.

What are your guilty pleasures? I love soft candy. I don’t often buy it for myself, but every once in a while a pack of Red Vines or Sour Patch Kids will find its way into my shopping cart.

Are you a morning or night person? Ummm, neither? I hate waking up super early, but also hate staying up super late. I guess if I have to wake up early, once I’m awake I’m fine. If I have to stay up late, I’m fighting falling asleep the entire time.

Which do you prefer, sweet or salty foods? Although sweets are my guilty pleasure, I crave salty foods and would have a very hard time avoiding them.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? If I could speak French, I’d love to live in Paris. From there it is so easy to travel to so many amazing European cities and sites, plus it’s a wonderful city on its own.

What’s one thing you miss about being a kid? Saturday morning cartoons! I used to get so excited to wake up, eat a bowl of cereal and watch my favorite cartoons with my brother on Saturday morning.

When was the last time you cried? Probably a few years ago. I can’t really remember.

What’s your favorite junk food? Tater tots! I love them so much.

What’s your favorite song? It’s impossible to pick just one, but one of my favorites that I could listen to any time is Manchester by Kishi Bashi

What’s your favorite inspirational life quote? It’s got to be any incarnation of the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you.” There’s never any doubt as to what’s right and always inspires me to be a better person.

What’s your go-to drink at a bar? Definitely a beer, always something local, preferably something sour, funky or pale. Unless it’s a tiki bar… then I’ll order a Saturn.

What are you afraid of? Being uninspired in my work and my life.

What’s one thing you’ll never eat or drink? Bad beer 🙂
