How long have you been a photographer? How did you start? I have been a professional photographer for 10 years now. I started out taking photos of plants and landscapes while I was out hiking around the beautiful mountains of Colorado and eventually worked up the courage to start photographing people. Eventually, I photographed my first wedding for a friend and have been hooked ever since.
What’s your favorite part of a wedding? I really enjoy cocktail hour. The ceremony is over, the party is just getting started and everyone is hanging out together and having a good time.
Where is the favorite place you have traveled? I attended a fall landscape photography workshop near Telluride, CO and we spent every morning and evening in the mountains around Telluride. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the beauty of the mountains at sunrise or how amazing it was to see the Milky Way over a grove of aspen trees.
What are your guilty pleasures? I love soft candy. I don’t often buy it for myself, but every once in a while a pack of Red Vines or Sour Patch Kids will find its way into my shopping cart.
Are you a morning or night person? Ummm, neither? I hate waking up super early, but also hate staying up super late. I guess if I have to wake up early, once I’m awake I’m fine. If I have to stay up late, I’m fighting falling asleep the entire time.
Which do you prefer, sweet or salty foods? Although sweets are my guilty pleasure, I crave salty foods and would have a very hard time avoiding them.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? If I could speak French, I’d love to live in Paris. From there it is so easy to travel to so many amazing European cities and sites, plus it’s a wonderful city on its own.
What’s one thing you miss about being a kid? Saturday morning cartoons! I used to get so excited to wake up, eat a bowl of cereal and watch my favorite cartoons with my brother on Saturday morning.
When was the last time you cried? Probably a few years ago. I can’t really remember.
What’s your favorite junk food? Tater tots! I love them so much.
What’s your favorite song? It’s impossible to pick just one, but one of my favorites that I could listen to any time is Manchester by Kishi Bashi
What’s your favorite inspirational life quote? It’s got to be any incarnation of the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you.” There’s never any doubt as to what’s right and always inspires me to be a better person.
What’s your go-to drink at a bar? Definitely a beer, always something local, preferably something sour, funky or pale. Unless it’s a tiki bar… then I’ll order a Saturn.
What are you afraid of? Being uninspired in my work and my life.
What’s one thing you’ll never eat or drink? Bad beer 🙂
