Vail Valley 4 Eagle Ranch Horse Trail Ride Wedding Adventure | Casey & Austin

Casey and Austin have had a whirlwind of a time trying to get married! Between the pandemic and the military they found themselves planning and replanning and replanning and finally planning with just 3 months! They settled on an amazing weekend out at 4 Eagle Ranch in Wolcott, CO–right next door to Vail in the Vail Valley–for their Colorado, adventure filled wedding celebration. 

When we got the call that the entire bridal party (over 20 people!) were headed out on a trail ride and wanted to have a photographer come along to capture all the fun, we knew Lisa was the right fit. With 30+ years of horse experience as a three day eventer, riding instructor, and barn manager her ability to marry her horse skills and photography skills would fit perfectly. In fact, Lisa could hardly believe that in more than 15 years of photographing she had yet to combine horses and photography in this way. She’s done lots of portraits of people with their horses but never while riding herself! It was a fun and inspirational challenge.

The morning started out lovely. It was fun to listen to the varying members of the bridal party (who came from all over the country) exclaim in excitement and nervousness about the adventure ahead. Only Casey, Austin, and a handful of the bridal party have horse experience. Casey is an accomplished equestrian and has her own OTTB (aka: former race horse) she does dressage with but many in the party had never been around horses, let alone on them. It was a joy to see people discovering the world of horses for the first time, especially surrounded by the stunning Colorado scenery.

We went on a two hour trail ride, meandering through fields and over mesas, all while chatting, laughing, and singing. It was a great kick start to their wedding weekend of fun!
