I believe every day should be like Christmas

There is that old saying that we should keep Christmas in our hearts all year long. When I was a kid, Christmas was just about my most favorite thing. Looking back at it as an adult I think it really had to do with my Grandfather. He found the magic in everything, he played santa, his house resembled something like Clark Griswald’s, he would stand and ring bells at the grocery store for The Salvation Army, everything about my Grandfather meant Christmas to me. I remember climbing up on his lap on Christmas (which was the most coveted place in my Grandparent’s house on a Christmas afternoon) and sitting there content for what seemed like hours.

Our family always went overboard for Christmas, crazy amounts of food, family, and presents. The family was the best part. Loving on each other and catching up with relatives, treating each other with love and humility. Everyone at Christmas time seems to follow this. People are extra giving, kind, loving. Statistically people are more generous with their time and money during Christmas.

Part of my mission as a person is to help make the world a more romantic place. Christmas encompasses every bit of that for me. I suppose that if we did all of these things every day we wouldn’t appreciate it when Christmas came around every year, but I don’t care, I love the Christmas Spirit and even when it isn’t Christmas I try to keep the same perspective. I have the opportunity to show my Son the same magic which my grandfather encompassed, not only at Christmas time but in his life. I can only hope that my Son’s perspective on the world is the same.  My Grandfather would have loved seeing him love Christmas. It is about the magic. We have to keep it, and love it, and love each other all year round.
