Holly & Chris | St. Regis Aspen Wedding

Oh man, where do I start with the awesomeness of these two amazing people and their families?  I could talk about how I want to carry Holly’s mom Mary around in my back pocket because she may be the most gracious, kind and complimentary person I have ever met. Holly and Chris who in their own right are kind and gracious beautiful people had been high school sweethearts. I don’t know exactly why but many of my clients are high school sweethearts. Holly still wears the promise ring Chris gave her all those years ago, so cute (see photos at the bottom).

Holly was honored to wear a veil that had been passed down and worn by 17 other brides since 1954, making Holly lucky # 18. It was a handmade veil from Brussels. An article was even published in the Delta magazine about each of the women. So special. I can tell you I have been so paranoid that I would drop it in the mud during mountain top photos. We are always so careful but man did it make me nervous.

There is no more beautiful spot than Aspen and the St Regis never disappoints. Its stunning architecture and mountain view are amazing. Holly and Chris did a first look and their portraits on top of Vail mountain prior to their wedding, really the best of both worlds. From their stunning ceremony in the St Regis courtyard with the fall Aspen mountain as the backdrop to every single detail of the day being planned and executed flawlessly to the weather which a week prior was a blizzard (because…Colorado) we couldn’t have asked for a better day all the way around.

One of the sweetest moments of the day was when Holly’s mom Mary danced with Chris for the mother son dance because Chris’ Mom had passed. Holly’s family and Holly made sure throughout the day that his Mom was always a presence. Ordering flowers for her bridal suite so she could be a presence there for their getting ready. I am sure his Mom would have been honored and for sure was present. I may have teared up during the dance though because to me it was representational that Holly’s Mom would always be there if he needed her too. Two families truly coming together as one.

To me weddings (and let’s be honest even life) is really about the connections we have to each other. I’ve said before that is what I look for throughout the day. Where is the connection and that is where the story begins. The connections and stories in this wedding were years and decades old. Friends and family whose bonds were formed years and years back. So much joy and laughter that was present because of those connections.

Holly and Chris, I cannot tell you how honored I was to be a small part of your celebration. I always feel blessed when I am able to see a glimpse into how special  families are and share a special day with them and you are no exception. I have never felt so appreciated and loved. I was in awe of you two’s love and your connection to your family.  I appreciate your kindness and graciousness throughout the whole process. I wish you both all the happiness and best adventures in the years to come.

XO,

Sarah
