Toni and Sam moved to Colorado last year and fell in love with the nature here. They knew they wanted a wedding filled with nature and were lucky enough to find a VRBO property that was just that! Nestled in the foothills of the rockies in Larkspur they found a fantastic home that is getting into hosting events. The owners clearly have worked super hard to create magical spaces in not just their home, but in the woods behind. Guests walked a meandering path, lined with lanterns and candles to the ceremony site then wove around the forest to the cocktail hour site before being seated under a cozy tent in the reception area. Most of the guests were from out of town and I could hear them exclaiming how amazing the place was–and they even liked the weather (which did rain a bit but also gave us some gorgeous sun, fluffy clouds, and a killer rainbow)!
Sam started the day off with a surprise for Toni during their first look. They originally planned on reading their personal vows at this time but with the help of his dad on guitar, Sam snuck in the singing of a beautiful love song to Toni as they stood back to back before they saw each other. There wasn’t a dry eye around!!
The theme of the whole day could be summarized as thoughtfulness to me. It’s clear Toni and Sam are so very in love and always take the time to do little things for each other that they know resonate with each other. Their families all had sweet gestures and words for the couple. Sam’s dad officiated a beautiful ceremony for them. Toni and Sam even hand wrote notes to each and every guest on their escort cards that took the time to tell each person why they were so special to them! The toasts were a-plenty and each person succeeded in bringing us all to (happy) tears with the love they shared. Even Sam’s second-grade teacher from Korea was there and gave a beautiful toast to the happy couple! Their friend beautifully sang their first dance song while a rainbow appeared.
Wedding games were played and Toni and Sam introduced me to a fun variation on one called The Wedding Photo Bomb. The couple stands on the dance floor and plays just ONE song and all the guests get to rush up and take silly, goofy, fun photos with them. With their backs to the audience, it’s a surprise who comes up each time. I think they got more rambunctiousness than they thought and the whole crowd was in stitches laughing by the end of it. A good time was had by all!
