On the Friday before Chelsea and Kyle’s wedding, Kyle, Chelsea, and a bunch of their friends went deep sea fishing. I was invited along for the ride. I had a blast. I have to say that deep sea fishing was a lot different than the fishing I do at my cabin when we are trying to catch 1-7 lb trout. I would say that the fish they were catching on this trip were probably easily in the 60-75 lb range and it took quite a while to reel them in.
Here’s the sign for the fishing company that took us all out. The staff at Captain Rick’s was fantastic!
Here is the whole crew (everyone that went – split up onto three boats)!
The lovely couple and the awesome Gnome that Chelsea’s Bridesmaid brought to take pictures at every location…there will be more of this to come so stay tuned (she even made it different outfits for the different occasions).
The pro Mexican fisherman (man these guys didn’t fool around they were amazing at helping the guys catch the fish) Kyle getting stoked to make his big catch!
The bait that was prepared for the fish…
Kyle was the first to catch a fish…a huge sail fish!
Like with any fishing there was a lot of waiting around, but these guys were patient and relaxed in the sun.
The waiting was soon over as we must have a school of sail fish because the fisherman were able to get three fish on the lines at once!
One of the sail fish that was brought in was bleeding quite a lot so they had to get it’s hook out and get it back in the water ASAP. There is a catch and release policy on many of the larger fish in Mexico.
The eager anticipation of another catch…
The captain’s wheel!
The fisherman that worked for the company were very skilled at getting the fish in the boat and the hook out fast so we could get a photo and put them back in the water.
Some more excitement over the last fish of day that was caught.
Headed back in to the marina after an awesome trip!
Back to the dock with 7 catched for the day. Each catch was marked with a flag (or a beer can!) and proudly displayed as we entered the marina!
I had so much fun watching these guys pull in these fish. I live for adventure and this was right up my alley! I would recommend Captain Rick’s for anyone looking for something fun to do while in Riviera Maya, Cancun, or Tulum.
