New York people generally have a key right to my heart. I think because growing up it was idealistic in my mind. Many people don’t know that my first degree is in theatre. I often think my directing degree really helped lead me to photography. I always say instead of creating pictures on stage I create photos in real life. New York City was always the magic place where the best theatre in the world happens. The place I always dreamed of as a little kid on stage and off. Don’t get me wrong, I am huge believer that you are where you are supposed to be. I love photographing couples and spending my days in the mountains but there is something super special about the city too. Jay and Mindi aren’t theatre people but they do live and work in the city. That was a kind of a tangent but I think because New York City has such an amazing place in my heart, I automatically love the kind of people it attracts. A city couple getting married in the mountains. East coast and west coast people in general seem to be my people.
Mindi is a Nurse Practitioner and Jay works on Wall Street. They compliment each other so well, they are gracious, kind, human loving people. You can tell a lot by how people interact with you and their family throughout the day. Mindi’s Mom Cheryl immediately adopted me and gave me hugs throughout the day. One of the sweetest Mother of the Brides to date. It was easy to see Mindi and Jay’s connection to each other from the start but their vows to each other were the sweetest. Each considering each other the luckier one. Toasts were personal and tear filled. Jay’s brother bringing out photos of Jay as a kid and Mindi’s Maid of Honor Abby sharing how Mindi helped her through her battle with cancer. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
And can we talk about Mindi’s Lela Rose dress? I am still obsessed. June is secretly one one of my favorite times of the year for weddings in the mountains. The flowers are blooming and the snow still graces the caps of our stunning mountains. It’s warm days are warm enough for hiking but cool enough for an evening fire. Absolutely perfection. Combine all of that with a sweet, stylish couple, their family and friends, I couldn’t ask for a better story to tell. Thank you Mindi and Jay for sharing your day with me and allowing me to capture your hearts, story, and sweet family and guests. I wish you all the best with your adventures together.

Sarah
