Beanos Cabin and Park Hyatt Wedding in Beaver Creek | Rachel & Matt

Rachel & Matt’s Beaver Creek Wedding: A Celebration Worth the Wait

Some weddings are more than a day—they’re a journey. For Rachel and Matt, their path to the altar was anything but linear. After rescheduling twice due to the pandemic, their love story led them to Beaver Creek, Colorado for the long-awaited celebration they—and their loved ones—had been dreaming of.

The morning of the wedding brought the usual question we often face in the Colorado mountains: rain or shine? With a watchful eye on the radar and not a drop in sight during their ceremony window, we felt confident moving forward. Just in case, I made a last-minute decision to order 40 clear umbrellas (Murphy’s Law, right?), and Rachel, ever the thoughtful partner, generously split the cost with me. I joked that anytime I bring umbrellas, it never rains.

Well… two minutes into the ceremony, the sky opened up.

Not a light sprinkle, either—it was steady, soaking rain, the kind that tests everyone’s patience and ponchos. But thanks to those umbrellas (plus a few extras the venue had on hand), every guest stayed mostly dry and completely in the moment. There’s something unforgettable about seeing a sea of clear domes pop open simultaneously as two people say “I do.” It felt like a scene from a movie.

I always say two things when it rains on a wedding day: first, it’s good luck. And second, it makes the day even more memorable. For Rachel and Matt, that turned out to be absolutely true. There was laughter, happy tears, and a shared sense of, “we’re doing this no matter what.” And when the rain let up just as the ceremony ended, it felt like the universe was clapping.

After the ceremony, guests hopped onto shuttles and made their way back down to the base of the mountain, where the true celebration kicked into full gear at The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek. The reception was full of energy, heartfelt toasts, spirited dancing, and moments of deep connection—everything Rachel and Matt had waited (and waited) for.

Their wedding day was also a beautiful reflection of their Jewish heritage—rich in tradition, meaning, and family. From the chuppah to the hora, the entire evening radiated joy and intention.

Rachel and Matt’s Beaver Creek wedding reminded me, once again, that love is never deterred by a little rain—or even a lot of it. And when the day finally comes, it’s not about the forecast. It’s about being surrounded by the people who’ve stood by you through it all.

And maybe packing a few extra umbrellas, just in case
