Just a week before Emma and Andy’s wedding it was snowing, so much to my relief (and I am sure theirs), we had a gorgeous Colorado May day. Colorado is often like that in the Spring. It goes from 80 degrees to snow in a matter of 24 hours.
There is something about intimate weddings (or as our industry has coined them “micro-weddings) that feels right. Often weddings are really about throwing a big party where everyone you know and love are all in the same room, but there’s something about the simplicity of an intimate wedding that feels calm and real. Now, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love a dance party with 150 of your favorite people (nothing wrong with that) but the intimacy insures you have the time to talk to every guest and soak up every minute. We are able to focus solely on the things the couple wants. Do you want an hour of portraits in the gardens? No Problem. Want to take a break before your dinner? Sure. Fewer people mean a little less worry and hustle. Fewer people to please and feed and you can spend money on an amazing meal and decor for fewer people. Fewer people doesn’t have to mean less fancy, it can mean more money in your budget for the people who really matter and you talk to on a daily basis.
The Botanic Gardens is one of the best spots for this type of celebration. Their Woodlands Mosaic ceremony site is like a magical fairy garden surrounded by greenery and an intimate green greenhouse. The use of the gardens for your photos is definitely an added bonus.
All in all, I think you ultimately do what’s right for you as a couple and Emma and Andy certainly did.
They had a very laid-back day with an intimate group of their family and friends finishing off at Tavernetta overlooking Lower Downtown Denver. Such a great day.
XO,
Sarah
